We’re looking for an SEO Specialist to join our growing Marketing team at Farewill.

This role is a fantastic opportunity to have a significant influence on an SEO strategy at one of the world’s most exciting startups. You'll get an unprecedented level of exposure, input and execution into how we do SEO at Farewill, with SEO set to be the primary acquisition channel for years to come.

Working with the SEO Lead, you’ll take a hands-on approach on all aspects of SEO. You’ll work across all of our products to help bring our strategy to life, while also having a significant input into our future strategy going forward.

This role is ideal for those with an inquisitive mind that want to test and learn new things. You’ll have had experience in a dedicated SEO role before and are ready for a big step up. In return, you’ll be supported every step of the way to develop your own skills and knowledge through first-hand experience at helping to run the show, through coaching from the SEO Lead, and through encouragement to try new things.

In short, you will play a critical role tackling our most important strategic priority on our mission to change the way the world deals with death.

You’ll help make SEO the most important attribution channel at Farewill by:

  • Executing a world-class SEO strategy across all of our products and services.
  • Exploring new innovations and ideas in SEO and putting them to the test.
  • Taking part in strategy sessions to help us decide Farewill’s future SEO direction.
  • Briefing designers, writers, and engineers to get buy-in for our SEO needs.
  • Get into the numbers to find our wins, trends, and areas of opportunity.
  • Level-up your SEO knowledge and soft skills to become one of the leading voices within the business.

In the next 12 months you will:

  • Establish SEO as the primary acquisition channel in Farewill.
  • Have a deep understanding of how SEO works at Farewill and how it interacts with marketing as a whole.
  • Support SEO to hit our 2021 goals and be heavily involved in setting our 2022 goals.
  • Work on new, and improve existing, processes and rituals for SEO ways of working.
  • Work with marketing team members outside of SEO to see how SEO can influence brand marketing.
  • Setup regular knowledge sharing sessions with the PPC team.

Requirements

  • Have worked in a dedicated SEO position before.
  • Can work across all parts of SEO, from technical, to content, to offsite.
  • An inquisitive nature that leads you to looking at the data to find patterns and trends, while leaving room for creativity and the desire to try new things.
  • At least a couple of examples where you can point at the work and the results, be able to say: “I did that”, and the drive to say “I want more of that”.

Some extra skills that would be great:

  • If you’ve got any side projects/websites/hustles we’d love to see them - we love self-starters.

If this sounds like what you’d love to be doing, we can’t wait to hear from you. If you’re not sure that you exactly fit the above criteria, get in touch anyway. Applications close by end of day on Friday May 7th.

Benefits

  • A salary of up to £35,000 and generous stock options
  • 28 days of annual leave plus the usual public holidays
  • Flexible working including when you start & end your day, and how often you come into the office*
  • Personal development budget of 3 days and £1000 per year
  • Regular ‘passion talks’ and a range of team socials
  • Santander cycles membership!
  • A chance to make a meaningful contribution to people's lives and deaths
  • And much more!

* Coronavirus update: Currently our lovely office in Haggerston is available if people want (and only if they want) to use it. Previously we had work from home Wednesdays and are looking to expand remote working options long term.

To do that, we want to build a workplace that’s great for everyone, that celebrates diversity in all its forms, and where everyone who works for us feels like they can be themselves, bring their whole selves to work, and be treated fairly, equitably and respectfully.

We believe flexibility is important, so we’re happy to chat to you about flexible/remote working options. And, If you need any flexibility or adjustments in our interview process - to help set you up for success - then please let us know too.

About Farewill

At Farewill, we’re out to change the way the world deals with death. Helping people to take control, personally and financially, of what matters to them after they’re gone.

We launched our first product - our will-writing service - in December 2016, and since then we’ve grown to be the largest will-writer in the UK. We launched our second product, Probate, in early 2019, and recently our third, Cremation.

Our growth to date has been driven by an exceptional product (see our customer reviews) and key strategic partnerships. We’ve been featured in Forbes, The Times, The Guardian and on Radio 4 among others. We're also making waves in the charity world, with over £300 million raised for charities on our platform from gifts left in wills.

Our team

We’re a creative, focused team who love what we do. We have backgrounds in design, technology, behavioural psychology, and management consultancy. We love to learn from each other and our customers, and grow together as a team.

We’re backed by some of the best investors in Europe - from the founders of Transferwise and Zoopla, to Augmentum, Kindred Capital, and (in our Series B round that we closed mid-2020) Highland Europe.

This is an unusual, fascinating, and emotional area to work in – if you’re up for a big challenge we’d love to meet you.
