Bitmovin is looking for a Senior Android Software Engineer to join our Player Mobile SDKs team. We’re building the Kotlin/Java-based player library powering apps on Android, AndroidTV and FireOS.
The ideal candidate will have a strong software development background and Kotlin experience. We are looking for candidates who have a passion for tackling complex problems in a performant and maintainable way.
As a Senior Android Software Engineer you will
- Develop high-quality, well-tested, reusable and scalable code that will be used by Bitmovin’s enterprise customers like discovery+, DAZN, BBC, RTL, RedBull Media House, Globo, ClassPass, The New York Times and millions of users worldwide
- Be involved in all stages of development, from product ideation through architecture and execution
- Develop new and improve existing features as well as investigate and resolve issues
- Suggest, plan and implement improvements to code structure and architecture in service of testability and maintainability
- Ensure quality and stability by writing automated tests and leveraging code reviews for your work and the work of others
- Mentor & sponsor junior and mid-level engineers
- Continually evaluate emerging technologies to stay ahead
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of technology standards, industry trends, emerging technologies, and software development best practices
It would be great if you have
- Strong communication skills in English in both written and spoken form
- 3+ years of programming experience with Kotlin/Java and Git
- Passion for software craftsmanship, best practices, design patterns, automated testing and clean code
- Excellent problem solving and troubleshooting abilities
- Ability to refactor code to improve performance, testability or architecture
- A positive and resilient attitude, even when encountering problems or when things go haywire
- Well-organized with a high level of attention to detail and accuracy
- A sense of urgency and ownership over the product
It would be even better if you have
- Excitement for the unknown – you’re always ready to learn something new
- Experience with library development
- Experience with cross-platform mobile development using Kotlin
