About the role and about You:

You will lead Zwift's overall Data Governance Program plan, timeline, achievements, dependencies, risks and issues. You will collaborate with data partners across the company to establish, chair and run Zwift’s Data Governance Central Committee. The Central Committee and you will ensure every line of business and product team knows how to contribute high quality data that aligns with the shared Enterprise Data Model.

As the Director of Data Governance, you will report directly to the VP of Data Platform and be expected to continuously work across the business to evaluate data governance related processes to find opportunities for improvement. You will develop the operationalization of Data Governance capabilities and target operating model to meet the objectives set out in the company’s Data Strategy. Leadership capabilities, multi-functional collaboration, ability to communicate, influence and persuade, understanding of alignment and accountability, and growth-mindset are some of the competencies we look for in this role.

What you’ll do:

  • Lead Zwift’s overall Data Governance Program plan, timeline, achievements, dependencies, risks and issues.
  • Drive the roadmap and implementation of Zwift’s Data Governance Platform (Data Quality, Data Security, Data Catalog, Compliance…).
  • Establish, chair and run Zwift’s Data Governance Central Committee and coordinate / facilitate data stewardship tasks.
  • Ensure every line of business and product team knows how to contribute to the shared Enterprise Data Model.
  • Develop, validate and drive implementation of organization’s Data Standards (ex: Data Dictionary, Certified Dataset, Data Taxonomy) in collaboration with Data Producers (product teams) and Data Consumers (Insights teams).
  • Develop the operationalization of Data Governance capabilities and target operating model to meet the objectives set out in the company’s Data Strategy.
  • Continuously work multi-functionally across the business to evaluate data governance related processes to find opportunities for improvement.
  • Promote data driven culture and good data practices within an organization.
  • Participate in enterprise-wide data related projects, initiatives (deployment of new technology, vendor assessments, Master Data Management) and support/influence building organization’s data driven culture.
  • Actively look for best industry practices through building the relationships within the industry, attending webinars, training, conferences.

What we’re looking for: 

  • 15+ years of experience in data domains such as Data Analysis, Data Governance, Data Management, Enterprise Information Management, Data Modeling, and Data Quality Management.
  • Ability to lead and motivate multi-functional, interdisciplinary teams to achieve strategic goals.
  • Must have foundational exposure to Data Concepts, i.e. Data Visualization, Data Analytics, Data Mining, Business Intelligence, etc.
  • Ability to effectively and clearly communicate Data Concepts to technical and nontechnical audiences.
  • Must have understanding of the end-to-end data supply chain from production to consumption.
  • Practical experience with Privacy laws such as CCPA, GDPR and Privacy Compliance implementation.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Information Management, MIS, Library Science, or Computer Science.

Bonus points: 

  • Experience working in organizations with geographically dispersed teams and complex technical environments.
  • Development experience with relational databases such as Oracle, SQL Server, MySQL, etc.,
  • Experience in Data Warehouse projects.
  • Master’s degree in Information Management, MIS, Library Science, or Computer Science.
  • Passion for  video games, cycling, running, triathlons, and other sports.
