About the role and about You:

An exciting opportunity to join a world class engineering team bringing category defining products to market. You will have gained experience in fitness and/or consumer electronics and be able to demonstrate your ability to assist in the production of electromechanical hardware. You will be working with and expanding our production capabilities and liaising between local manufacturing bases in China and our UK/US offices. 

What you’ll do 

  • NPI Responsibilities
    • Collaboration with the design team during the product development stage:
      • Coordinate with electric motor, mechanical and electrical design engineering groups to develop DFM /DFA/ serial production strategies for new products 
      • Support the product design and development by ensuring prompt and clear supplier feedback
      • Guide and support the design engineering team during regular technical teleconferences
    • Responsibilities after Transfer:
      • Work with the engineering team to assist in transition of design into cost efficient and high volume products.
      • Prepare plans for all NPI projects and coordinate with all stakeholders to ensure good quality products
      • Coordinate with mechanical and electrical design engineering teams to develop DFM /DFA/ serial production strategies for new products 
      • Coordinate with engineering and product management departments to develop and implement manufacturing plans for products.
      • Support in developing product test plans to perform production test according EVT/DVT/PVT and serial production instructions
      • Administer efficient first release products for submission for certification.
      • Monitor operations of product and evaluate designs and ensure adherence to all design and manufacture principles.
      • Provide technical support to the Management team for all RFP/Q initiatives and administer effective use of outsource products.
  • Contribute to NPI Processes
    • Analyze and recommend improvements to all production processes and methods to facilitate cost reduction and quality improvements.
  • Factory / Supplier
    • Manage the Contract Manufacturing partner and communication with them across all departments.
    • Ensure compliance to all manufacturing SOPs, including supporting development of new and existing SOPs
    • Support the sourcing of new suppliers, including any necessary auditing requirements
    • Support suppliers to develop and implement efficient material handling, flow strategies and maintain safe manufacturing processes at all times.
  • Communication & Reporting
    • Analyze and recommend corrective action in case of any design failure due to process or quality issues.
    • Coordinate with senior management, maintaining knowledge on product status to prepare appropriate reports.
    • Monitor DFM/prototype/tooling/production status of all new products and ensure effective execution of projects.
    • Prepare project timelines to identify all supplier resource requirements and evaluate financials for manufacturing processes

What you’ll have

  • Degree in Engineering or equivalent experience working in the field 
  • rack record of launching and supporting the manufacture of new motor designs, including stator winding and rotor assembly
  • Experience of working autonomously & in ambiguous environments
  • Working knowledge of 3D CAD
  • Excellent communication skills, proficient in English to business level 

Bonus points

  • Solidworks
  • Experience working in a start-up/scale up 
  • Experience working in the manufacture of outer-rotor SMPM motors
  • Experience working with remote HQ 
  • Experience managing communication between in-house design/engineering teams and Tier 1/steered-source Tier2 suppliers
  • Experience and/or passion for fitness hardware
