As our growth continues to go from strength to strength across both the UK and internationally, we are looking for an enthusiastic Senior Regulatory & Compliance Manager to help us maintain the safety and quality standards of our Powders, Bars, Ready-To-Drink and Hot & Savoury products and NPD. This role is part of Huel’s expansion and an opportunity to share your experience, but also develop and lead a team within an energetic and passionate brand.

You will be part of the UK Technical team, being responsible for international labelling and regulatory requirements for countries such as the USA, Japan, Germany, Poland, to name just a few. You will also be responsible for our exceptional Ingredients and Quality teams who manage labelling, accreditations, testing, data, systems and also our raw materials controls, specifications and supplier approvals and improvements.

Working very closely with our global supply and manufacturing base, you will ensure that relevant internal systems are managed, adopting a culture of continuous improvement, reducing our risk of any serious product or brand incidents and championing product perfection.

You will quickly identify any potential issues and will use your strong internal and supplier relationships to put in speedy and effective resolutions. You will relentlessly seek opportunities to do things differently and better. You will be heavily involved in product improvements, but also supporting new ones being launched.

This role will be based at the heart of our operations in our Global HQ in Tring, Hertfordshire with flexibility to work two days a week from home.

 

What you’ll be doing:

  • Lead the Quality and Ingredients teams, mentoring and coaching team members to attain high performance and ensuring the team delivers key strategic targets
  • Be a key Technical contact for all things regulatory, raw materials, suppliers, labelling, data, systems and accreditations
  • Support Procurement and Supply Chain to ensure we maintain good ingredient supply, with limited risk
  • Ensure that ingredients and suppliers are only used at the right standard, controlling food safety, allergens, heavy metals and any other risks to the business; be a bastion of quality
  • Provide expertise on labelling requirements, for local and international markets - support/project manage new country launches
  • Carry out supplier and product risk assessments, determine, prioritise and implement actions against hazards caused by allergens, micro/hygiene and otherwise
  • Work closely with raw material suppliers and third party consultants to establish KPIs and measure supplier conformance - supporting corrective actions where necessary
  • Carry out and support with supplier/raw material audits and ensure any actions are implemented
  • Support the Technical agenda, to deliver on key objectives and drive the vision
  • Feed into the internal Quality Management System
  • Identify opportunities for improvement and team development

 

What we’re looking for:

  • First and foremost you’ll have the ability to manage a highly talented team, mentoring and coaching them to reach their potential
  • As a key member of the technical team, you’ll have an ability to build strong relationships, negotiating and influencing with suppliers and manufacturers as well as internally at Huel. Through an understanding of food safety criteria, you’ll challenge and move things forward, without putting the business at risk
  • Regulatory labelling knowledge is essential, we work globally at Huel so you’ll need a breath of experience in this area. Being multilingual would be a bonus!
  • You’ll be experienced in reviewing risk and emerging threads with raw materials and suppliers and have an understanding of food legislation and food manufacturing standards and processes, including some factory awareness and experience
  • The ability to manage multiple projects within a fast-paced environment, bringing everyone on the journey while making smart business decisions
  • Understanding of GFSI knowledge and experience
  • Risk assessment, allergen, heavy metals, micro - pragmatism and experience
  • Willingness to travel and have a full UK driving licence
