This is an exciting opportunity to join a fast-paced, industry-leading organisation, growing an analytics team to help support business growth.  The role of senior analytics lead is to work collaboratively with our internal and external stakeholders, developing creative analytical solutions bringing data and insight to the heart of every decision here at Modulr.  As a Senior Analytics Lead you will also be involved in recruiting, mentoring & managing a team of junior analysts/data scientists – developing the next generation of talented analysts.

The role

Analytics is huge field, and this role will cover many aspects - from helping develop data models for data ingestion, to ML projects delivering insights at scale working closely with our engineers, product and operations teams.  You will be a technical guru, comfortable in manipulating data at scale and identifying the appropriate analytical data science methods to deploy depending on the business challenge you are faced with.  A good background in analytics and data science is essential

You will be responsible for all elements of analytics project delivery - from liaising with stakeholders through to solution design.  You will work with the Director of Product Data to develop best practice on approaches, and encourage the skills development of the team through knowledge sharing

 We are flexible with location, however, travel to Edinburgh/London will be required for f2f meetings with your team.

Companies are under mounting pressure to manage their cashflow, control their costs, comply with regulations and handle complex supplier, customer and employment payment arrangements. The key tasks of your role will include: 

  • Work with a variety of internal, and external stakeholders to develop actionable analytical solutions to meet business challenges
  • Work collaboratively with stakeholders to brief, plan and execute analytical plans
  • Hands on delivery of analytical solutions – strong commercial focus on outputs that improve efficiencies & increase revenues
  • Keep abreast of cutting-edge developments in data science and analysis that can be applied to Modulr and work with senior data team to turn into reality where appropriate
  • Help to promote use of analytics across the organisation – from running hackathons, workshops, show and tells – encourage the adoption of insight through data across different teams – to enable Modulr to be truly data driven
  • Manage your team of analysts and data scientists – from 1-2-1 to OKR (Objective) setting
  • Help to develop the internal data team – from recruitment drives, onboarding programs for data team, development of training plans/delivering specific training
  • Help to promote Modulr in wider data science community – establishing Modulr as the destination for analysts and data scientists as part of their career journeys in FinTech

About You: To join us as a Senior Analytics Lead, you’ll need:  

  • Be passionate about how data and analytics can make a change and be willing to drive that message in a growing company
  • You have an inquisitive mind and proactive approach to problem solving and issue resolution
  • You enjoy group work and working independently in a fast-paced, constantly changing environment, and are willing to take ownership and responsibility of key business processes.
  • You love rolling up your sleeves and doing whatever’s required to achieve the goals of the team and wider business.
  • You’re structured and organised, able to handle the competing pressures of immediate tasks and alongside longer-term projects.
  • You’re comfortable working in an early-stage business, where time is critical, and things change frequently.
  • Both an eye for the fine detail and ability to look at the wider business context and spot opportunities for change
  • Excellent communication skills – empathetic listener to be able to translate business challenges into data challenges, and skilled at explaining complex solutions back out to the business in digestible format to help promote/popularise analytics and break down perceived barriers
  • You have managed a small team previously or have been involved with mentorship programs

Specific Skills

  • Have at least 5+years of experience in analytical roles
  • Highly proficient in at least 1 coding language – R or Python (SAS also considered) – and be comfortable using SQL
  • Have worked with cloud based data platforms
  • Experience with visualisation tools (e.g. tableau, Power BI, DOMO)
  • Have direct experience building data science models – e.g. segmentations, propensity models, forecasting
  • Experience with ML ops an advantage
  • Mathematics/Statistics/Data Science background (MSc Preferable – other highly numerate degrees also applicable)
