In your role as  Director of Solutions Engineering  you will manage the customer facing aspects of the work that the Engineering team performs at Featurespace. The director will manage teams that include:

  • Solution specific UI teams eg. UI for the cards solution or the AML solution
  • Tactical Engineering team – develops API integrations and modifications to ARIC interface code, provides engineering support to Enterprise customers
  • Delivery engineering – Plug and Play [Core] develops and maintains a UI based configuration management system
  • Delivery engineering – Plug and Play [Deployment] develops and simplifies the chef based VM installer

All teams include embedded QA, and these areas are the main focus of growth within the Engineering team. Currently all teams are located in the Cambridge office, but experience in growing and working with remote engineering teams will be a valuable skill as Featurespace expands globally.

 
 

Day to Day

 

You will be an experienced industry technologist with a proven background in leading product engineering, technical delivery and the relevant support teams. You will be responsible for delivering to an ambitious roadmap, whilst maintaining Featurespace’s very high service levels. You will bring a depth of experience in leading technology teams operating within high availability and mission critical environments.

You will also have a client facing aspect to your role, understanding what Featurespace customers want and what it takes to build and scale exceptional customer service. You will have a combination of technical excellence and leadership skills that will enable them to confidently lead a multi-discipline technology team.

Responsibilities

  • Leading and developing the solutions engineering teams
  • Ensuring that features built generate value for the customer by ensuring they are built using the right input and regular feedback
  • Representing the customer, their interests and needs within the Engineering team to ensure what we build delights customers
  • Applying engineering expertise and judgement particularly in high availability and machine learning technology environments
  • To drive revenue by creating products that clients find deep business value in
  • Creating regular feedback loops with customers and internal stakeholders to ensure value is delivered reliably
  • Ensure that projects are well defined, identify key risks and monitor the status of ongoing projects, ensuring that key objectives and commitments are met
  • Continuously develop and refine processes and procedures improving engineering productivity and capability

There will be cross functional collaboration, where you will ensure effective interaction and communication between the technology,
operations and product teams. Collaborating with the Platform engineering teams to ensure that the Platform APIs provide a stable interface that deliver both the functional and non-functional requirements demanded by customers. You will act as a problem solver and be the “glue” that pulls the right teams together, working closely with engineering to deliver the product vision.

You will be a natural and inspirational leader, visible, supportive and a person who rolls up their sleeves and leads from the front by example. You will lead the solutions technology team; ensure they have the right context and mission, and play a key influential role in activating collaboration and alignment across all teams (product, business development and operations). You will recruit, coach and develop the team; whilst managing the solution engineering team leads and ensuring that their teams are well managed (objectives are set and monitored regularly, people have adequate feedback and one-to-ones, etc).
