Hundreds of enterprises such Intuit, Nokia, Deloitte, Deutsche Telekom, Roche Pharmaceuticals, Vodafone, ING, Allianz, Lufthansa, Atlassian design, automate, and improve mission-critical business processes with Camunda to drive digital transformation. Camunda has been repeatedly recognized by Deloitte as a high-growth company and is operating as a remote-first company.

Summary

The Chief Marketing Officer (CMO) plays a key role in establishing Camunda as the unquestioned leader for process orchestration software in order to drive our rapid and sustainable growth.

To that end, the CMO will oversee Camunda’s overall marketing strategy and execution across all initiatives and channels. They will ensure the highest functional standards in their department, which consists of the following teams (~25 FTE total):

  • Brand and Creative
  • Corporate Communications
  • Demand Generation
  • Events Marketing
  • Marketing Operations
  • Product Marketing
  • Web Marketing

The CMO will apply and provide those functions successfully to drive and support our growth engine, that is product-led and seller-accelerated. The CMO is a member of the Senior Leadership Team (SLT) that reports to the CEO. The other SLT members are the Chief Technology Officer (CTO), the Chief Revenue Officer (CRO), the Chief Financial Officer (CFO), the Chief People Officer (CPO), and the Chief of Staff (CoS).

The CMO and their reports will drive and support many cross-functional initiatives across the organization, partnering with other key functions such as product management and developer relations, sales and sales development, talent acquisition, and legal & compliance.

Qualified candidates will be experienced, tech-savvy enterprise software marketing leaders with a strong passion for our product and a remote-first mindset.

Responsibilities

  • Develop a high performing team (attract, assess, onboard, enable, grow, and offboard talent) and lead it with empowerment and accountability.
  • Successfully combine product-led growth (PLG) with account based experience (ABX) in order to help generate self-service revenue and enterprise sales opportunities.
  • Own and beat top-of-funnel targets such as product signups and lead generation, and co-own sales pipeline generation (partner with sales development).
  • Ensure operational excellence and rapid experimentation to make data driven decisions on where to double down and where to back off: Simplify, prioritize and focus (majority of budget on few core plays).
  • Educate the market (including industry analysts, market influencers and the media) in order to create the process orchestration category, and ensure that Camunda is recognized as the category leader.
  • Support Sales with the right content (including battle cards and case studies) to educate the economic buyer about Camunda and its competitive advantage.
  • Build a highly successful channel partner marketing program.
  • Manage the marketing spend (plan, forecast, report), approx. €6M in 2022.
  • Develop and maintain a marketing culture that is aligned with our FAITH values, is truly remote-first and highly agile, working in fast iterations and having candid conversations based on metrics and data.
  • Establish and maintain healthy, effective partnerships between Marketing functions and other functions in the organization.
