We are currently hiring a Lead Engineer (Tactical Engineering)

You will also help us achieve our goals and deliver success on behalf of our customers by: 

  • Working with Product and Project teams to identify, design, plan and build ARIC features for our customers on a “tactical” timeframe and cadence 
  • Coordinating the investigation, escalation and resolution by the team of customer issues that require Engineering expertise 
  • Line management and mentoring responsibilities for the Tactical Engineering team
 

Day to Day

 

The Tactical Engineering team is responsible for building software that does not fit within the standard Engineering roadmap and investigating issues that directly impact our customers. 

  • Working with customer-facing teams to specify, design and deliver new customer-specific functionality 
  • Providing tactical software solutions outside the normal development cycle to support our delivery teams and customers 
  • Supporting delivery teams in integrating ARIC with customer and third-party systems, developing new functionality as needed 
  • Reviewing and investigating Engineering Triage requests, either addressing directly or referring to other Engineering teams 
  • Providing engineering resource, by exception, to support other Engineering teams during the software development cycle 

Responsibilities

  • Line managing team members. Conducting one-to-ones, providing mentoring and guidance 
  • Proactively reducing complexity and takes lead in solving problems both technical and organisational 
  • As needed, taking on additional “Project lead” responsibilities for driving an initiative through to completion 
  • Owning the delivery for cross-team product features 
  • Working with Engineering Management and Product to design, plan and size new product features for future release 
  • Championing process (for example Scrum, TDD, etc) 
  • Responsible for team level prioritisation and scheduling of work 
  • Providing team-level status updates and taking responsibility for deliverables of the team 
  • Able to provide higher-level status updates and take operational responsibility 
  • Highly knowledgeable of the team’s area of responsibility and interactions with other teams 
  • Building defined features, investigating and fixing bugs independently
  • Performing code reviews 
  • Communicating progress regularly whilst identifying any blocking issues and escalating where required
