To guarantee the highest quality of these apps as well as the plan outputs they generate, we’re looking for a skilled engineer with keen interest in the transport business and a drive to build up specialist knowledge in how the products are used & the value it creates for our end users.

You are that kind of person who thinks about the optimal trip to work and knows that the fastest route may not be the shortest as left turns & traffic lights may come with a penalty.

In this role you will be an integral part of the Software Development team and will work in close collaboration with the Product team, Operations Research specialists & Developers on optimizing & improving our planning algorithms and making sure that the optimization engines and tools are at the highest quality by performing both manual and automated testing of these engines.

Responsibilities

·        Execute & analyze specific scenarios with the goal of configuring the engines for best possible planning results

·        Pressure test new changes to the algorithms and make sure they perform in both old & new scenarios

·        Engage with OR specialists & developers and take part of the design and definition of new requirements from product owners & customers, to make sure the solutions are usable, testable & at the highest quality

·        Verify & guarantee product quality by testing changes in Fleet Planner, Route Planner & DCC

·        Maintain and improve automatic test suites for planning performance & customer specific end-2-end scenarios

Expectations

·        Strong analytical skills

·        High level of autonomy and excellent written communication

·        Ability to work structured and clearly explain what you did, what you see, what you expect

·        Good understanding of the end user and interest in exploring edge cases and negative scenarios

·        Curiosity in transport problems like the traveling salesman

·        Experience with (or interest in) scripting or coding

This role will be part of an OR specialist competence center within TMS, whose main focus is improvements to the Optimization & Planning Engines in existing applications like Route Planner, Fleet Planner, and DCC, with a strategic outlook to transition these products to cloud native applications on a service orientated model.

We promise a great work atmosphere in a team of highly skilled & motivated engineers with time to immerse yourself into the complex challenges & solutions of transport problems.
