Engineering Manager - Infrastructure

We are looking for a talented manager with prior experience leading a cloud infrastructure team. Our team builds and maintains our AWS infrastructure which we offer to product teams as a PaaS solution to build on top of. Our team has a wide scope: from networking, DNS and databases to kubernetes clusters, CI/CD pipelines and developer tooling.

What you’ll be doing

• Manage the development and delivery of technical solutions related to cloud infrastructure and developer experience

• Align and refine the vision and roadmap for the team, in collaboration with product management

• Help write technical specifications for upcoming work

• Facilitating technical design discussions with stakeholders across the company

• Run planning and refinement sessions to ensure your team is laser focused on the right things, and can execute smoothly

• Maintain a deep understanding of engineering/product/business needs and work with leadership and product management to ensure your team has a clear vision that aligns with the broader company vision

• Support and mentor engineers to help them grow technically and professionally

• Set and monitor performance goals, provide feedback through reviews, one-on-one meetings, and regular discussions

• Connect your team to the rest of the business by clearly communicating business goals to your team, as well as technical solutions to stakeholders

Qualities we will be looking for

• You are someone who values open and honest communication and teamwork to achieve a shared vision

• You’re a passionate learner who isn’t afraid of new tools and technologies, and who loves to share their knowledge and experience

• You have experience leading cloud infrastructure team, or a team in a related field

• You have a good understanding of cloud technologies, and a deep understanding of at least one of the big vendor’s platforms (AWS, GCP, Azure, etc. We use AWS)

• You enjoy coaching and mentoring people towards their development goals

• You have experience implementing (or overseeing the implementation of) software at scale using structured delivery methods and technical design patterns (like event driven architecture)

• You have implemented team processes/rituals before, and enjoy actively challenging your engineers to produce meaningful products

• You’re self-directed, analytical, highly responsible and work well in a team environment

• You have strong written communication skills (English)

• You enjoy working in a team that is distributed and remote-first, and know how to foster team cohesion in a remote setting
