On the desktop, WeTransfer solves a problem straightforwardly and elegantly. Big files aren't a big deal on mobile, so we decided to do something different within the realm of WeTransfer, which is all about sharing creative work. We enable people to collect the content that's on their phones and share them. Most apps operate in silos: your videos are on YouTube, images on Pinterest, music on Spotify, etc. We believe great things happen when these are combined and that's what our new product does: it allows you to make mixed media boards with anything that's on your phone.
The launch of our iOS app was a great first step but we are now working on a desktop app. And that's why we need you.
What you'll be doing
We are looking for someone to join the Collect team with all things technical where your initial focus will be managing our desktop app. You will be working on a product that has a user base of millions and continuing to build our web technology.
You will be part of a multidisciplinary team, which includes designers and other developers, who will help take your ideas from implementation to production.
Qualities we’ll be looking for
Above all else, we value open communication and good teamwork to achieve a shared vision. It's important you understand what our users like, and believe in our ethos of keeping things simple.
- Self-directed, highly-responsible and works well in a team environment
Stay abreast of advancements in technology and has a knack for assessing their relevance to WeTransfer
Can communicate difficult-to-understand topics and decisions clearly; you adapt the way you communicate to your audience (e.g. technical vs. less technical)
Collaborate effectively with junior engineers (and mentor where needed)
Strong verbal and written communications skills (English)
Even better if you have
- Hands-on experience or interest working on Electron
- At least 8 years software development experience
