Job Description

As our first Director of Engineering in Boston, you will play a key role in growing and shaping a team from the ground up. You will have the opportunity to hire, onboard, coach, mentor, and support the career growth of an engineering team that is connected to the heart of Nexthink’s product. Your team will interface and liaise with our engineering teams in Europe, but you will also have access to our executive team who is mostly based in Boston. We are looking for an excellent communicator who values collaborating across teams, time zones, and functions, distilling technical details and providing clear insights to solve complex challenges. You will also bring your technical skills and capabilities to the team, driving engineering processes, architectures, and technical roadmaps in alignment with the leadership team. Your input will be valued from architectural decisions, to code reviews, prototypes, and codebase. You will be responsible for the technical debt, security, quality, and technical decisions in an efficient manner. Collaborating with UX and product management, you will help write user stories, build product roadmaps, and ensure smooth cooperation with teams from discovery to delivery. You’ll also work cross-functionally with teams like marketing, sales, HR, customer success, and more. You will evangelize and continuously improve our agile methodologies for software development to iterate on our products in a lean way, and you will be a trusted leader to help evolve the next generation of our multi-tenant cloud-based platforms and solutions. 

Qualifications

You’d be a great fit if you have: 

  • B.A./MSc in Computer Science or equivalent 

  • Previous experience building, developing, and leading engineering teams in an Agile environment 

  • Experience collaborating with internationally distributed teams  

  • Desire to work in a hypergrowth-paced environment, effectively managing cultural differences and embracing change 

  • Strong knowledge around the technology stack and processes for full stack development, microservices and cloud architecture and deployment 

  • Experience with Java, Kubernetes, Kafka, Docker, Clickhouse, AWS, React, etc.

  • Experience leading cross-functional teams to align product and engineering roadmaps, generating the highest business value 

  • A “get things done” mindset, willing to work as one team to get concrete outcomes 

  • Profound know-how in agile practices and frameworks
