Indirect Tax Manager US

Based in the Berlin headquarters and reporting to the Senior Tax Manager in Berlin, this role offers ownership of the Group's US sales tax compliance obligations. The role will also offer exciting opportunities to get involved in projects across the tax team, both on indirect tax and other tax disciplines.

Team Mission

Maintain high-quality tax compliance and reporting processes, with a parallel proactivity in understanding and addressing developments across the evolving tax landscape.

Responsibilities

• Owning US sales tax compliance process across the group
• Managing pre-existing registrations
• Interpreting state rules, identifying nexus
• State registrations and ongoing compliance
• Awareness of ongoing developments across states in respect of marketplace facilitator and economic nexus
• Liaising with internal stakeholders on path to sales tax compliance across IT systems, understanding sales tax transaction flow
• Owning sales tax audit process
• Strategic thinking on future best practice - sales tax and wider indirect tax function
• Ownership of other indirect tax (VAT/digital tax) projects, offering an interesting breadth of work
• Ad-hoc work in other tax disciplines to support tax team objectives

Your Profile

• Minimum of 5 years professional experience in tax, university degree
• International accounting/tax qualification is a plus
• Experience of US sales tax across multiple states preferred
• Understanding of other (non-US) indirect taxes is a plus 
• Experience with ERP systems (SAP in particular) is a plus
• Well-organized, detail-oriented and willing to work independently
• Demonstrate resilience and flexibility in a fast-moving environment
• Solution-oriented approach: turn problems into solutions
