As a Quality Assurance Engineer, you will work within a cross-skilled agile team in our Engineering department, contributing directly to our flagship product Consumer Research. You will test to improve existing and new features, working closely not only with back-end and front-end engineers across the entire department, but also with product and delivery managers, data scientists and designers. 

You will plan and execute tests on our real-time text and image data processing pipelines that support data at the terabyte to petabyte level. You will work on testing custom machine learning solutions developed by our data science team and our APIs that support both the product as well as API users. You will review technical design documents to provide timely and meaningful feedback. You will also work closely with developers and other QA Engineers to build out automation frameworks using Java/Javascript. 

You will be embedded in a small team. You will work within our state-of-the-art technology stack, testing back-end Java applications using the Spring Framework and technologies such as Kafka, Solr, Redis, and PostgreSQL and/or front-end Javascript/Node applications. You will ship automation code in a continuous integration environment using tools such as Git, Github Actions, Jenkins, Docker, and Kubernetes. You will collaborate with our global teams based around the world.

Responsibilities

  • Participate in the software development life cycle from beginning to end
  • Identify, analyze, and report application defects and assist development with resolution
  • Work in an Agile development environment
  • Write and execute test cases, and document results
  • Verify that corrective actions meet quality objectives
  • View log files, understand them and assist developer in finding root-cause of the bug
  • Assist with investigating potential bugs, issues, etc in the production environment
  • Define required testing scope and test scenarios, and review with developers and product management
  • Contribute to automation test suites to support new functionality as well as regression coverage
  • Support and contribute to QA team by sharing best practices, learnings, and providing peer QA code reviews

Requirements:

  • 1+ years of practical experience testing web applications from front end to back end with working knowledge of several related technologies (HTML, XML, CSS, HTTP, SSL, REST, Web Browsers, Web Servers, Application Servers etc.)
  • Knowledge of programming language like Java, JavaScript
  • Knowledge of test management, test development, and/or test process 
  • Experience with QA tools and techniques, bug tracking systems, test design and execution
  • Working knowledge of SDLC and the following QA methods: unit, integration, functional regression and system testing
  • Self-starter able to quickly learn new applications, tools, and technologies, and desire to become a product expert
  • Attention to detail, outstanding analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to multitask in a dynamic environment and maintain a professional attitude with team members
  • Strong interpersonal skills with ability to work in a collaborative environment

Nice To Have

  • SQL programming and database technologies
  • Knowledge of scripting languages like Bash, Perl, Python etc.
  • Practical knowledge test automation libraries/tools/frameworks like RestAssured, Puppeteer/Cypress and Junit/TestNG/Jest
  • Knows how to work with Git or similar code versioning tool
  • Knowledge of Behavior Driven Testing methodologies like Cucumber
  • Understanding of Kafka, Solr, Lucene, Redis, PostgreSQL is a plus
  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science or related field
