As Privacy Officer you will be responsible for giving pragmatic advice on data protection related matters and help making risk-based decisions. You will guide teams in ensuring that new products, features and campaigns align with WeTransfer’s data protection policy and relevant data protection regulations. 
 
As Privacy Officer you will work closely together with the Data Protection Officer (DPO) and all types of business stakeholders. If necessary the Privacy Officer will take the (co-)lead in dedicated data protection projects. You will report into our General Counsel. 
 
 

What you will be doing:

    • Train and offer (strategic) advice to WeTransfer management and staff on relevant data protection regulations in order to make risk-based decisions.
    • Collaborate with teams across WeTransfer to help drive a global data protection program and governance structure consistent with relevant laws and regulations.
    • Draft, implement and communicate policies, processes and templates related to WeTransfer’s data protection practices.
    • Draft, review and negotiate data protection-related contracts, such as Data Processing Agreements. 
    • (Help the business) Perform data privacy impact assessments (DPIA) and assist in data breach response, and report on the same as appropriate.
    • Act as the (first) point of contact for users and other data subjects for any data protection issues they raise.

What you bring to the table:

    • A minimum of three years of relevant experience as Privacy Officer within an IT/Techfirm and several years of experience in a legal role as a privacy consultant, inhouse legal counsel or lawyer. 
    • A Master Degree in Law with a background in contract law, IT law or IP law.
    • A CIPP/E certificate or a similar level of education.
    • Solid knowledge and understanding of the GDPR and ePrivacy directive. Knowledge of other privacy laws, such as CCPA and LGPD is a plus. 
    • Knowledge of the trends regarding privacy and data-security.
    • Experience with implementing compliance programs.
    • Great interest in and understanding of the tech scene and how growth and innovation interacts with compliance.
    • Understanding of the relation between company goals, compliance and balance innovation with privacy.
    • Experience with reporting and presenting progress of compliance (to C-level).
    • Strong written and oral communications skills in English - Dutch is a plus.
    • A hands-on attitude and the ability to test and critically review and read data.

A note on remote
Covid has changed the world. Just as much as it changed us. While we can't wait until offices re-open, being at the office will not be mandatory in the future.
