As part of our continued growth, we seek to hire an Intellectual Property (IP) Manager to join our Connected Products team.You will be required to work with the VP of Connected Products and the team to implement the company’s goals, including the IP plans, IP operational frameworks, achieving IP objectives and deliverables in line with the company's broader business strategy. You will need to work autonomously taking on a number of key responsibilities within the business, alongside working collaboratively. It requires overcoming cross-functional barriers to accomplish the very important goal of creating a strong IP portfolio and developing a competitive advantage through intangible assets.

What you'll do 

  • Organise and schedule interviews, meetings, and workshops
  • Prepare meeting agendas, perform research for meetings, and take minutes during meetings
  • Develop processes for innovation management to efficiently capture new ideas from the R&D team
  • Design and maintain a database and an interface system to manage IP assets, disclosures and education relating to IP
  • Conduct prior art searches to assess patentability of the inventions and make consistent patent filing decisions in alignment with the company’s corporate strategy
  • Conduct patent landscape studies and competitor benchmarking to identify potential whitespaces and assess IP risks
  • Monitor patent filings in key technology domains and/or from key competitors
  • Conduct freedom to operate searches
  • Help to set up and enforce effective IP policies within the company, establish transparent responsibilities and governance
  • Work with the team to ensure delivery to timeframes and milestones
  • Provide the interface between managements, legal, R&D, external patent attorneys and consultants, building a strong ecosystem for IP creation

What you'll have:

  • Professional skill and knowledge of IP (including patents, copyrights, trademarks, and trade-secret), market research and commercialisation
  • Demonstrated success in strategic project management including planning, resource allocation, communication, implementation, negotiation, evaluation and reporting
  • Demonstrated ability in the development and implementation of project and knowledge management systems and documentation, and monitoring these for continuous improvement
  • Experience in communicating and educating diverse groups in IP matters
  • Ability to prioritise and manage multiple assignments, and efficiently manage multiple requests for information and assistance and to work under pressure of various deadlines
  • High level of interpersonal communication including the ability to consult with senior executives, external bodies, negotiate agreed directions, outcomes and targets within a collaborative environment in a complex organisation
  • Demonstrable experience in a R&D environment in Consumer electronics or Fitness hardware 
  • Experience in commercial legal contract negotiation and detailed clause interpretation and negotiation, including IP-related agreements
  • Experience in IP drafting, filing and administration
  • Experience in IP infringement analysis, IP law, and IP litigations
  • Relevant degree and/or 2 to 4 years of experience with IP management and commercialisation in an established start-up or large organisation
