About the Role

  • As a Payments Analyst, you will enjoy a fast paced and varied role where you will develop a detailed understanding of different payment flows and how they work as you work with existing and new products. You will have the opportunity to be involved in process improvement and new product initiatives alongside your operational duties.

 

Key responsibilities

  • Assisting in the timely and accurate processing of client money transactions - Faster Payments, BACS, CHAPS, SEPA, Direct Debits, Card transactions and FX 
  • Resolve any payment queries raised by our customer support team or compliance team in a timely manner
  • Assisting and resolving ad-hoc complex payment issues where required with internal Modulr teams devops/product/dev team
  • Identifying requirement daily treasury movements and completing these within strict timelines
  • Responsible for the timely processing of our transaction exception queue – included but not limited to unallocated, suspended, failed, and pending payments
  • Working with our banking/payment/transaction providers to resolve payment queries within deadlines and as per our regulatory/ payment scheme requirements
  • Monitoring real-time payment/transaction flows, payment/transaction processing activity highlighting trends or possible issues
  • Follow all internal processes, ensuring these remain up to date and whilst highlight any changes and suggesting improvements
  • Aide with the creation of internal and external reporting requirements
  • Ensure that UK regulations relating to EMI’s are adhered to
  • Responsible for the identification and escalation of any internal policy breaches/ regulatory breaches
  • Be a Payment operations Subject Matter expert to provide guidance to our Product and Development team for new product initiatives and/or any continuous improvements required
  • Support ad-hoc incident management where required, including monthly on-call out of hours support for incidents and payment queries
  • Aide with the creation of internal and external reporting requirements
  • Reconciliations
  • Responsible for the preparation of daily bank reconciliations/s within deadlines and adhering to our reconciliation policy
  • Identifying, resolving and escalating of a non-reconciled items in a timely manner as per our reconciliation policy
  • Investigating and identifying root causes of non-reconciled items and driving forward resolution to reduce reoccurrence

 

Required skills

  • Previous experience in payments, reconciliations, or treasury within an operational team
  • Knowledge and previous experience working with at least one of the UK payments schemes and/or international schemes
  • Awareness of financial regulations and breach identification and reporting
  • Experience of investigating payment failures and exceptions
  • Excellent Excel skills
