The Opportunity

 

We are looking for a passionate and experienced Technical Architect to join our ever-growing Engineering function here at Featurespace, to be based out of our Cambridge office.

In your role as Technical Architect you will help us achieve our goals and deliver success on behalf of our customers by:

  • Architecting new features for our real-time platform which underpins our ARIC engine, integrating ARIC into customer deployments and architecting new modules to plug into our platform.
 

Day to Day

 

Software Architecture Team Responsibilities

  • Responsible for evolving and maintaining the ARIC software architecture.
  • Design and architecture of new platform and solution features.
  • Help in the shaping of the platform architecture to meet strategic objectives going forward.
  • Work closely with development teams, tech leads and customer/market-facing product managers to understand product requirements and collaborate with tech leads to build technical designs.
  • Take an active role within development teams, communicating the architecture, working with the team to prove and collaboratively evolve the architecture.
  • Communicates and collaborates with tech leads and stakeholders to build consensus around the technical direction of the ARIC platform.
  • Provide technical SME consulting services to other functions across the wider business when needed.

About you

 

Must haves

  • Ability to manage and prioritise your own workload
  • Experience of architecting scalable distributed applications
  • Knowledge of patterns and their trade-offs in a distributed environment
  • Software engineering experience in one or more programming languages (Java preferred)
  • Demonstrated ability to multi-task, work under pressure and think analytically
  • Must enjoy working in a team of like-minded and intelligent people to solve complex problems
  • Ability to adapt and stretch capabilities and skills to meet the business needs of a fast-growing technology firm

Great to haves

  • Experience of relational and/or NoSQL databases for large datasets
  • Message queueing systems – RabbitMQ / ActiveMQ / Kafka
  • Cloud platforms
  • Container orchestration systems – Kubernetes / Openshift
