About the role and about You:

You will join a fast-growing team of Product & UX Designers, and UI Designers to help elevate Zwift’s core experiences across our core game. Through your knowledge of design systems, graphic design, interactivity, layout, typography, color theory, and even illustration, you will help us solve challenging interface design problems elegantly. 

As a Senior UI & Visual Designer (within the Product Experience group) you are responsible for user interface designs in and around the game that are both complex and ambiguous. You will work within a cross functional Agile team to create delightful end-to-end experiences that have a deep impact on our players and are aligned with business objectives. 

Specifically, you will work with our Core Game Experience team to deliver best-in-class UI and visual assets for concept mockups, flows, interaction elements, and affordances, including but not limited to menus, iconography, data visualizations, visual assets, and the in-game HUD across the different platforms that we support (e.g., Desktop, mobile, and Apple TV).

You will also work closely with other designers across the organization to establish quality standards, best-practices, and patterns – so as to help create, document, and optimize the workflow for a robust

 What you’ll do: 

  • Work with UI Designers, UX Designers, Game Designers, Brand Creative, Engineering and other teams on projects and feature sets to solve user interface design problems 
  • Design UI solutions that contribute to and evolve the Zwift brand experience across platforms and touch points that players interact with 
  • Create vector artwork, iconography, and rasterized assets that are high-quality and optimized
  • Ensure that the quality bar for assets in production is met, particularly consistency across platforms 
  • Develop briefs, target concepts, final assets, and report UI bugs during playtests 
  • Work with other leaders and contribute to Zwift’s overall art and brand direction 
  • Help developers become more efficient by providing them with appropriate scope and fidelity of assets from Figma 
  • Maintain source files and manage libraries
  • Request and provide feedback to fellow designers 

 What we’re looking for: 

  • 5+ years of experience in game development and/or tech companies doing UI design, visual design, interaction design, product design, or related field across different platforms (e.g., Desktop, mobile, 10-foot experiences) 
  • Success designing complex user experiences applied to both in-game engine experiences, as well as around-game meta-game systems 
  • Deep knowledge of fundamental visual design principles (e.g., layout, composition, grids, color theory, typography), including accessibility best-practices  
  • Experience with Figma, Photoshop, Illustrator, and other visual creation tools
  • Strong understanding of user journeys, use-cases, user flows, and information architecture within game environments
  • Effective communication and presentation skills  
  • Demonstrated ability to partner effectively with others and diplomatically resolve conflict
  • Ability to thrive in fast paced, ambiguous, team-oriented, start-up environments where learning and adapting is the norm
  • Ability to thrive and collaborate in a cross-functional Agile work environment, including the ability to embrace iterative product development 
  • A portfolio of work that showcases how you’ve done the above in the past 
  • Experience with Unreal, Unity, 3D software, or motion/ animation tools is a bonus 

 Bonus points:

  • You have deep enthusiasm for, and/or experience in, cycling, fitness, and video games 
  • Experience delivering results while working remotely with geographically distributed teams
  • You consider yourself a systems-thinker -- and you can give us good examples of why that’s the case
