The Role

Jellysmack is seeking a highly motivated and organized Senior Accountant to join our growing team. This individual must have experience in either accounting or auditing and be ready to jump in and add value on Day One. The ideal candidate should, specifically, have experience with month-end close procedures, data reconciliations, and technical accounting matters such as ASC 606, etc.

This position will be responsible for supporting the Jellysmack Accounting team, with a focus on Revenue. The Senior Accountant will work directly with the larger Accounting team to support the month-, quarter-, and year-end close procedures, the annual financial statement audit, and the ongoing revenue operations of the Company. This person will help improve accuracy of reporting, using data-based strategies. They will focus on process efficiencies, the broader control environment, and key technical issues. They will report to the Los Angeles-based Senior Manager of Accounting, Revenue, in the United States.

The Responsibilities

The Senior Accountant will be responsible for the end-to-end accounting processes for their designated revenue streams, as well as coordinating with cross-functional groups such as sales, creator success, etc. to ensure transparency and communication across the board. The ideal candidate is a diligent, organized, efficient person who is a self-starter.

• Manage and ensure accurate and timely month end close tasks; work towards process improvements to eliminate inefficiencies and increase controls
• Monitor and maintain Jellysmack’s technological tools and related payment platforms to ensure operational efficiency and accuracy in reporting for several hundred creators in the Jellysmack Creator Program
• Manage the payment process for creators, IP licenses, brands, and other content related payments, including the data, calculations, and approvals required for issuance
• Help implement and maintain the internal control framework surrounding the platforms and tools used within the accounting department
• Develop and maintain relationships with cross functional departments and work closely with them as it pertains to their accounting requests.
• Build and expand controllership function and help transform processes, roles/responsibilities with stakeholders, and enhance controls
• Develop an in-depth knowledge of tools and applications in support of the accounting function; lead projects that will cultivate efficiency through elimination, standardization, and automation

A Little About You

• 3-5+ years of relevant accounting experience
• A high level of proficiency in Excel and NetSuite
• Have a demonstrated ability to rapidly adapt to new technologies and software, as well as learn independently as needs come up
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and juggle multiple priorities / projects
• Experience with Stripe, Power BI, and Salesforce is preferred
• A track record of improving accounting processes and systems
• Strong collaboration skills and an impeccable eye for detail
• Strong verbal and written communication skills – email etiquette and professionalism are essential
• Excellent time management skills and transparency regarding bandwidth and detail oriented
