ABOUT THE OPPORTUNITY

 

Salsify is seeking a Technical Engineering Manager for the Data Products team, the team that is responsible for developing and supporting a data infrastructure that allows teams across Salsify to collect, process, and use their data. This team will also build data products that enable our customers to understand their Salsify accomplishments, how they compare to competitors, the value they've realized from their Salsify investments, and to motivate their Salsify investment and program decisions.

In addition to a sound technical background, a successful candidate for this role will be passionate about creating an encouraging, growth-focused environment for engineers, be comfortable collaborating across teams and orgs (e.g. engineering teams, Product Management, GTM), and taking ownership of problem areas critical to the business.

How You'll Make an Impact

This individual will be responsible for and measured by:

  • The roadmap execution of the team
  • The operational excellence (stability, performance) of the domain owned by the team
  • The growth and motivation of the team’s individual engineers
  • Strong relationships across the company, making this team successful in a highly collaborative environment

Stack — AWS services - e.g. EC2, S3, Athena, EMR, Redshift; Data tools - e.g. dagster, dbt; Python

You'll Enjoy This Role If You Have

  • 5/6 years of hands-on coding/product delivery, or data product delivery / data infrastructure experience - this is not a hands-on role but we feel that this background is essential due to the nature of the product area in which the team works
  • At least 1 year engineering management experience with a team of 4 or more engineers
  • Nice to have, but not required:
    • Experience in data modeling, analysis of large data sets, data pipelines and orchestration, ETL, data lakes, data warehousing, and data engineering tools and platforms.
    • Knowledge of core and analytics AWS services such as EC2, S3, Athena, Redshift, EMR.
    • SQL skills, practical knowledge of Python, Java, or Scala.
