What you’ll be doing

You will be working as part of the People and Places team, reporting into the Director of Total Reward.  You will manage WeTransfer’s payroll and employment tax obligations in line with the business strategy and regulatory requirements.

The key aim will be to make the payroll process efficient by utilizing the existing HR Information Systems (HRIS), while ensuring compliance across payroll and employment tax in our key locations of the Netherlands, UK and the US. 


A key project will be integrating our payroll providers with our HRIS system, Workday.


Amongst other things, you will:


  • Working with the People Operations and Finance teams to maintain effective systems of control over the end-to-end payroll process

  • Management of an effective payroll platform that will provide accurate, compliant, and reliable output

  • Building and maintaining integrations with our HRIS system, Workday, and benefit providers

  • Ensure that payroll is delivered in accordance with company policy, employee contracts, and country legislation, including the retention of records as required by law.

  • Maintain effective and efficient communication between employees and the People & Places team, providing educational content and sessions as required.

  • Effective reporting to provide payroll information to authorities, benefit providers, employees, and the business

  • Ensure all records retained, whether received or generated, are valid, accurate, authorized and auditable

  • Assist finance with the monthly journal entries and the business with forecast information.

  • Ensure relevant Employment tax obligations are understood, documented, and actioned.  E.g. P11D, PSA, and similar

  • Provide technical and practical insight to the business on Employment tax topics, for example, the best way to provide employee benefits across different locations, such as IT equipment.

  • Advise the business on the recommended way to enter new payroll locations, including the use of Employer of Record constructs.


What we are looking for:


  • Experience managing and running Netherlands and US payroll.  UK and French payroll experience will also be a plus

  • Experience managing outsourced contracts with significant reliance on third-party payroll providers

  • Solid experience in an International payroll environment

  • Relevant qualification in HR / Payroll / Finance fields is desirable, but not a must

  • Strong Excel and Google sheet skills

  • Project management skills

  • Attention to detail

  • High-quality communication skills –oral and written with fluent written and spoken English

  • Good working knowledge of the tax implications and legal compliance requirements of payroll

  • Ability to work under pressure and prioritize own work when presented with ambiguity

  • Growth mindset and problem-solving skills
