The Opportunity

 

In your role as  Performance Test Team Lead, you will help us achieve our goals and deliver success on behalf of our customers by:

  • Lead and own responsibilities for non-functional quality aspects of our product 
  • Assure continuous improvement of our quality by taking our quality and non-functional automation domain to the next level

You will manage a small team of performance engineers and drive to improve our performance testing and performance frameworks. 

This role can be based remotely across the UK, however living within commutable distance to our Cambridge office is a definite plus! If you’re based remotely, you will ideally be happy to travel to our Cambridge office regularly.

 

Day to Day

 
  • Lead non-functional system testing to assure reliability, capacity and scalability of our product 
  • Assure continuous improvement of system end-to-end automated performance tests 
  • Act as a point of contact for the team including closely interaction with developers, QAs and support 
  • Provide team level prioritisation and work scheduling 
  • Communicating progress regularly whilst identifying any blocking issues and escalating where required  
  • Lead new development and maintenance of automated performance testing 
  • Assure the team has performance flows such as test plan, reports and operation procedures 
  • Conducting one-to-ones, providing mentoring and guidance
  • Participating in the process of interviewing and recruitment 

About you

 

Must haves:

  • Strong practical experience with developing automation tests using Object Oriented Programming such as Java 
  • A determined approach to exploring performance bottlenecks and uncovering root causes 
  • Experience with best practices and proven ability to define QA work procedures, and guidelines, and design the whole testing processes 
  • Experience in writing automation frameworks for applications in Linux/Unix environment 

Great to haves:

  • Prior experience of line management, or managing performance testing workloads 
  • A deep understanding of the non-functional test project lifecycle and deliverables 
  • Experience with technologies like MongoDB, Kafka, SQL and Elasticsearch 
  • Broad experience with CI tools & technologies (Teamcity, Artifactory, Docker, K8S, and Git) 
  • Understanding of Cloud infrastructure (AWS, GCP, Azure)
