Changing the way the world deals with death

Dealing with death — losing a parent, a parent, or a best friend — is the hardest thing most people ever go through. For too long, it’s been a dreary affair with top hats, paperwork, and bureaucracy. We think it’s time for things to change.

At Farewill we build the best products in the world for dealing with death. Beautifully designed, easy to use, built for taking care of the people you love.

We’re looking for an interim Head of Product (to join us ASAP) to lead our passionate, diverse and ambitious product teams as we find someone to take on the role on a permanent basis.

About Farewill

One of the fastest growing startups in the UK, in the last 12 months we’ve:

  • Averaged an NPS of 82
  • Hit 8,500 Trustpilot reviews at 4.9/5
  • Grown from 50 to 125 people
  • Grown revenue 800%
  • Closed our £20m Series B
  • Won major National Awards (Consumer Business of the Year, Economic Innovator of the Year, Employer of the Year to name a few)
  • Raised over £350m for charity

This role presents an incredible opportunity to help create fantastic products through fostering an empowered and inclusive team. If you have a vision for what great product leadership looks like at a growing, customer-obsessed company & you're up for jumping in at the deep end in an interim role, read on!

About the role

As interim Head of Product, in the next 3-6 months you will:

  • Build products to help 100,000+ people deal with some of life’s toughest moments
  • Collaboratively create a compelling product vision and strategy
  • Lead, manage, coach and support your team of PMs, rolling out a progression framework for them
  • Scale from 5 product teams to 8
  • Own & develop the product operating model - the processes, tools and rhythm to enable your teams to achieve great things
  • Nurture a world-class product organisation alongside Sally (Head of Engineering), Utku (Head of Design), Erica (Head of Data & Insights) & Tom (co-founder & CPTO)

As a member of our Leadership Team you’ll also play a defining role influencing company strategy, culture, and our overall success as a business.

Requirements

We’re looking for someone with:

  • Relentless customer focus - championing products that put customers first
  • Experience launching and scaling consumer (non-negotiable) products to hundreds of thousands of customers or more
  • Strong people management capabilities
  • Experience hiring & managing multiple PMs simultaneously
  • Experience leading multiple cross-functional teams with shared vision & clear goals

Not requirements, but nice to haves - someone with:

  • Experience managing managers of PMs
  • Experience managing remote or partly remote teams
  • Experience working on B2B products
  • Experience working on high consideration consumer products

If this sounds like it matches your experience and what you’d love to do, we can’t wait to hear from you! If you’re unsure whether you fit our criteria exactly, please get in touch anyway. We care just as much about capability and attitude. But get in touch soon, applications close on 18th April.
