We are looking for an experienced, creative and curious Technical Lead - Frontend to join Modulr’s technical team. This is a hugely exciting opportunity to join a growing fintech with an aspirational roadmap.

What’s our stack? 

In our wider delivery function, Modulr is a Java house with an Angular frontend and our engineers work with PostgreSQL, Kubernetes, Git, Docker and AWS.

Our frontend team more specifically work with Angular 12, Sass, Storybook, Jest, Jasmine, Rxjs, Stylelint, Grunt.

Who are we looking for? 

We’re looking for technical leaders, amazing motivators and coaches, who can lead our frontend squad.

We’re looking for inspired, aspirational and talented technical lead with experience in Typescript and Angular or similar. You’ve also got demonstrable experience integrating REST APIs with frontend frameworks.

We’re looking for creative and curious thinkers; collaborative and cooperative team-players; empathetic problem-solvers; and enthusiasts who are interested in the tech and the industry and follow trends to consider their impacts and future potential.

We’re looking for someone that can work closely with Engineering management that will help shape and recruit the right talent into the team.

You can facilitate technical discussions within the team and can support them in taking alternate directions when they need guidance. 

You are comfortable communicating at varying levels, from within team to the extended leadership.

Bonus points for experience or interest in AWS e.g. Cloudfront and CI/CD tools e.g. Jenkins

What will you do? 

  • Support, develop and coach a team of engineers through technical leadership and 1:1 meetings.
  • Work closely with product and our UX designers to create exciting frontend solution designs.
  • Hands on development and code reviews to ensure that as a team we deliver the highest quality code.
  • Advocate our technical roadmap for the frontend team ensuring our tool choices and processes stay at the fore front of what we do.
  • Work closely with the Engineering Managers, Architecture and the Directors of Engineering to drive technical excellence across the organisation.  

What is the interview process? 

  • Screening call 

This will be with our talent team, usually lasts about 30 minutes and is a chance for us to learn more about you. 

  • Hiring manager call 

This stage will be a casual discussion with the hiring manager and someone from our Engineering Leadership group. You’ll get a chance to find out more about what the day job is like and they’ll ask some more casual questions about you. 

  • Exercise review and technical call

Together with some of our engineers, you will review a small piece of code and discuss what you see. After, you’ll have a technical interview, followed by a chance to talk more informally with the team where you can ask your prospective teammates lots of questions!

  • Engineering Leadership call

This last stage is a call with one of our Engineering leadership team so you can ask any final questions you have about Modulr or the team.
