Director, Data & Analytics

This is a unique and exciting time at Salsify to join our Business Technology team (BizTech) as Director, Data & Analytics. We are enabling the success of our Salsify business operations by creating an architecture to support data-driven decision-making and self-service data consumption through modern data and analytics tools. You will partner with leaders across the business to guide transformational initiatives related to data and analytics technologies, systems, and programs including a data warehouse, ETL/ELT layers, a data modeling layer, and the consumption of data through modern BI Tools.  This is a greenfield opportunity to build everything from scratch with heavy preferences on using Snowflake, dbt, Fivetran, or other similar technologies.  Our customers are our fellow Salsify employees, and we are passionate about providing them with outstanding service. You also will work with them to align on priorities, plans, and delivery expectations.

You will be a valued collaborator and leader as we continue to build our technical delivery, agile development practices, and overall support function for all things data across the company. You’re a leader and an individual contributor responsible for delivering customer value and surfacing empirical data to guide the decision-making, commitments, and roadmap. Critical thinking and awareness to raise issues, remove roadblocks, and actively seek opportunities to serve and enable growth and understanding with our business partners. You also will align to a consolidated roadmap and strategy for fulfilling business demands today and for the future.

How You'll Make an Impact:

• Lead multi-functional teams to deliver valuable outcomes through the management of key projects and initiatives from beginning to end
• Actively drive the development life cycle from requirements analysis, feasibility estimates, design, code, documentation, testing, implementation, and support.
• Identify and lead the implementation of new solutions across a data and analytics technical stack to ensure that they are organized and delivered in a way to achieve maximum business value
• Partner with business leaders to translate their priorities into technical solutions, drive simplification and alignment across system and business needs
• Work in an agile environment to lead a team that builds high-quality, well-tested solutions that meet/exceed the project timelines and objectives
• Collaborate with internal and external partners for the definition, planning, modeling, governance, and implementation of financial system technology capabilities and it's associated data
• Stay ahead of current and future trends in technology that supports our internal customers looking to leverage the capabilities of a data warehouse and BI reporting needs.
• Deep data and analytical insights into key metrics that will be sourced from the data warehouse.
• Proven track record as a successful technology leader with extensive experience in data platforms
• Assist in driving data quality and data governance programs
• Possess solid understanding of data modeling concepts (including programming, database, and design) within the context of how the business wants to measure its performance
• Promote an environment where problems can be raised without fear and team members can engage in debate and problem solving

 You'll Enjoy This Role If You Have:

• Bachelor's Degree in Information Systems, Computer Science, or related field is preferred
• 10+ years of data warehousing, data modeling, and ETL/ELT experience
• 5+ years of experience on a data warehouse platform such as Snowflake is a must; hands-on experience with data querying, data modeling tools is also required
• 5+ years at Sr. Manager level or above in leading data and analytics teams
• Experience in data architecture and making rational buy vs. build and interface decisions
• Demonstrated experience in gathering and transforming product requirements into a practical product roadmap.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills and the ability to work equally well in self-managed and team-based Agile/Scrum projects
• Solid experience with integration between multiple, highly complex systems
• Experience in a build-from-scratch environment vs maintain or keep the lights on is preferred
• Experience in SaaS
• Experience in pre-IPO companies and understanding the controls and processes that must be in place to support compliance initiatives such as SOX
