The Opportunity

Reporting to the AWS Infrastructure Lead this role is an opportunity to work in the growing SaaS/Cloud Team in our Cambridge office, who are responsible for the operation of Featurespace’s SaaS based ARIC solution.

In this position you will take on new initiatives to run, enhance, and scale our infrastructure in an exciting and fast-growing business and will be part of a team that runs and maintains our cloud-based solution for customers who critically depend on our ARIC service.

 

Day to Day

  • Hands-on deployment of the customer’s solutions on our cloud platform
  • The monitoring and proactive management of our service
  • Collaboration with colleagues to automate platform support, processes, standards and tools
  • Ensure all solutions are properly logging, monitored, and instrumented
  • Our customers depend on our service, so you’ll be part of a team focussed on service uptime and high availability
  • Contribute to design discussions to ensure solutions are designed for a successful deployment, security, and high availability in the cloud
  • Write and maintain code for automating the creation of scalable, resilient systems, infrastructure, and platform services
  • Implement and test data backup and recovery and disaster recovery procedures
  • Write and maintain clear, concise documentation, runbooks, and operational standards including infrastructure diagrams
  • Troubleshoot and resolve complex issues in development, test, and production environments

About you

  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field (Business / Computer Science preferred) or equivalent experience
  • Experience with Amazon Web Services (AWS) in particular the EC2 services and AWS monitoring tools such as GuardDuty
  • Strong experience with Linux, shell scripting, and command-line tools
  • Proficient in at least one scripting language, ideally Python
  • Prior experience using automation tools (Terraform, Ansible and/or Salt)
  • An understanding of immutable infrastructure and infrastructure as code concepts
  • Familiarity with Dockers and Kubernetes or related orchestration technologies including awareness or experience of containerisation in AWS (EKS, ECS)
  •  Knowledge of IP networking, VPN’s, DNS, load balancing, and firewalling
  • Familiarity with any of the following software: Apache storm, Kafka, Zookeeper, MongoDB, Mongo DB OpsManager, and Elastic Search
  • Strong verbal & written communication skills and demonstrated ability to collaborate across teams and organizations
  • Experience in a technical support role is an advantage as is availability for after-hours support
