Experience: 

 

  • Expert in Java (or similar object-oriented languages willing to learn Java) 
  • Previous technical leadership skills and experience leading teams of up to 5 people 
  • Experience of REST API design 
  • Strong understanding of OOP and design patterns. 
  • Influenced and embedded engineering practices and cultures 
  • Open-Source technologies, such as Spring and Hibernate. 
  • Demonstrated ability to work with Microservices 
  • Open-source RDBMS technologies such as PostgreSQL.

 About the role: 

  • Act as a mentor and an example to others in your team and across the organisation. 
  • Lead the design, build, and evolution of the backend services that power the Modulo platform 
  • Work closely with the Engineering Managers, Architecture and the Directors of Engineering to drive technical excellence across the organisation.  
  • Apply principled engineering practices including unit testing, integration testing, continuous integration and, by your example, lead others in your team to do likewise. 
  • Proactively identify issues, bottlenecks, gaps, or other areas of concerns or opportunities and work to either directly affect change, or advocate for that change 
  • Work in an agile environment - Scrum or Kanban 
  • Document best practices, guides, systems design, reference architectures and implementations 
  • Participate in design and code reviews 
  • Think not just in terms of code, but architecture. You communicate your ideas effectively to others within your team. 

About the interview process: 

For this role you will go through the following process: 

  • Pre-Screen call – This will be with our talent team this usually lasts about 30 minutes and is a chance for us to learn more about you. 
  • Technical + Hiring Manager call back to back. 
  • Technical call with Technical Task – This is a chance to meet with some of our great engineers. We will walk through your technical task, ask some technical questions and then we will have a chance for you to ask us some questions as well. 
  • Hiring manager call – This is a chance to meet some of our engineering manager group. This part will be more about learning about you as a person and understanding what motivates you.
