About you

We’re looking for an Analytics Engineer to join our Engineering team at Farewill.

This role is an incredible opportunity to have a real business impact by building analytics pipelines that empower our teams to make critical business decisions.

You will be reporting directly to our VP Engineering and there will be a lot of opportunity for professional development and progression as part of a growing business. You have real ownership and ability to influence the direction of our data systems.

What you’ll achieve in your first 12 months

  • Maintaining and continuously improving the data infrastructure (i.e. Fivetran, BigQuery, DBT, Looker). Specifically:
    • Cleaning and modelling source data in DBT
    • Optimising the structure of our data warehouse for analysis
    • Creating and maintaining clear, comprehensive core views and explores in Looker
    • Researching and integrating new tools and technologies to improve our data infrastructure

Requirements

Hopefully you’ll have some or all of the following:

  • Experience building, maintaining, documenting and improving data infrastructure
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • SQL skills (comfortable with joins, data types, data modelling)
  • Attention to detail, and commitment to data accuracy & quality

Our hiring process:

Our standard process is:

  • An initial call
    • If we think your application is a good fit, we’ll follow up with a call to go into a bit more detail about your background and experience and to talk about our role. This call will be with a leader in our Engineering team, so as well as finding out about you, we can answer any questions you have about our engineering team and role.
  • A technical interview
    • We’ll talk through some of the technical projects you’ve worked on through your career. We want to learn from you, about what you have done, how you thought about the problem, what trade-offs you made and what you learnt or might do differently in future. There will also be time for you to ask the interviewers anything you want about the company, team or role.
  • A team interview
    • In this interview we’ll talk about your historical experience again, this time focussed on how you work in teams and all the non-technical skills that make a great developer. There will also be time for you to ask the interviewers anything you want about the company, team or role.
  • Follow-up and offer!
    • If there’s anything we’re not sure of from the interviews above, we may schedule a follow on session to tell us more about your experiences in certain areas. We want to make sure you’ve got the best chance to tell us about something we might not have asked about in the initial interviews. This goes both ways. So if, after the interviews, you think of questions you’d like to ask us, we will set something up to answer your questions. The interviewers for any follow on interview will depend on what questions we want to follow up on or what you want to ask us. Hopefully after all that we’ll be in the position to make you an offer!
We share the topics we’ll ask you about in these interviews in advance, and let you know who you’ll be speaking to, so you have time to prepare. We know people can get nervous in interviews, so please feel free to bring notes and refer to them during the interview.

Benefits

What we offer:

  • A competitive salary (£40-65k) plus generous stock options
  • 28 days of annual leave plus the usual public holidays

Making your application as smooth as possible:
