WeTransfer is looking for an experienced Strategic Partnerships lead to build our partner program from the ground-up, leveraging existing relationships across our Advertising Sales and Editorial teams and forging new relationships with identified strategic partners. This role will be highly visible and cross-functional as you’ll work to design, build and sell partnerships which will require collaboration across the Product and Sales business units.

 

Reporting to the CMO, this newly created position will build out a small team to lead all aspects of partnership creation and delivery from evaluating brand partners to identifying strategic product integration partners and negotiating deals and pricing structures to suit. This role will provide an important new channel of revenue generation for the WeTransfer subscription business, building out a foundation for partnership revenue in 2023 and expanding into a core rev gen channel within the next 2-3 years. 

 

The ideal candidate will have a strong background in partnership development and will be incredibly data and insights driven, working in close partnership with Customer Insights and Product Marketing teams to identify and define areas of opportunity and growth for the business across our target audience segments. Leaning on previous experience of designing and structuring partnership programs with the ability to scale with the company and our expanding set of products and tools.

 

Success in the role will require a high level of collaboration with cross-functional teams and stakeholders, in addition to the ability to influence C-level executives and their team’s priorities to support the delivery of complex partnership deals. 

 

What you’ll do:

  • Partnership Strategy & Design: As the lead of this newly formed discipline, you’ll be tasked with designing a strategic approach to partnerships that will grow the WeTransfer subscription business. Starting from ideation through the delivery, you’ll be responsible for designing the strategy of types of partners we approach, tiering of partner offerings and effective integration and onboarding of new partner deals. 

 

  • Partner Network Development: Leveraging your existing network and developing new connections, you’ll build out a network of partners that are aligned with the WeTransfer corporate strategy and company values and will partner closely with the Advertising, Communications & CSR teams to ensure that we are developing partnerships with brands that align to our values, while also driving value from a PR perspective 

 

  • Partner Onboarding & Customer Success: As a newly defined discipline, you’ll design a strategy and plan to support the onboarding of new partners and design effective ways to support their success leveraging existing customer support resources and building out new tools to support their success and retention

 

  • Reporting & Analytics: You’ll work with Business Operations & Analytics teams to build out a partnership deal tracking and reporting process and framework to provide visibility into pipeline and performance to support revenue forecasting

 

  • Revenue Forecasting: Leveraging pipeline reporting you’ll play a key role in monthly and quarterly subscription revenue forecasting, helping to provide Business Analytics with clear insight into subscription revenue forecast from partnership deals to support resource planning and management 

 

  • Team Development & Leadership: In this role you’ll be tasked with hiring and leading a small team to support you with standing up the partnership program at WeTransfer and as a senior leader in the marketing team, you’ll also play a key role in supporting the delivery of the strategic marketing initiatives around raising brand awareness, shifting perception and driving utilization of WeTransfer products

 

What you’ll bring:

  • 15+ years of experience in strategic partnerships, business development or SAAS sales experience

  • Experience leading a team of high-performing Business Development and Operations professionals

  • Exceptional presentation skills and ability to influence senior leadership 

  • Highly analytical and data-driven, using data and insights to tell stories and sell in ideas to drive cross-functional collaboration

  • Proficient in Salesforce, Monday.com, Asana and other business development and project management software

  • Experience working within subscription services, ideally SAAS is preferred

  • BA in Marketing or Business, MBA preferred

 

Based on the successful candidate’s skills and experience for the role of “VP, Strategic Partnerships” we have assessed that in New York this role would expect a base salary of $250,000 - $270,000 + bonus + equity. In the event that the successful candidate for this position is based outside New York the base salary would be adjusted based on relevant state, or country of residence and relevant market data.
