Every single day, millions of people from over 190 countries trust us with handling their precious creative ideas.

Since making our name with quick & simple file-sharing, WeTransfer has evolved to helping creators organize, share, and get feedback on their work – from inception right up to delivery. We showcase the best brands to more than 80 million users per month, and our editorial platform WePresent has championed unexpected stories of creativity from around the globe, as well as featuring collaborations from world-famous artists, too.

Sounds like fun, right? Allow us to sweeten the deal: as a certified B Corporation, we do all of this while using business as a force for good, balancing people, planet, and profit along the way.

About the team

The Platform team is at the core of engineering at WeTransfer. The team accelerates innovation by providing developers with the tools they need while ensuring the platform is reliable, performant, and secure. They continuously work with the product teams to develop processes, tools, and services to support end-to-end ownership and self-service deployment of applications and infrastructure.

About the role

As the most senior IC in the team, you’ll act as a role model and coach for your team while demonstrating technical leadership. Your drive will fuel cross-functional projects and the development of our platform to support the needs of a scaling business. You’ll be building strong relationships with your teammates, manager, your team’s relevant stakeholders, and senior engineers across the organisation. In doing so, you help scale an engineering organisation of hundreds of engineers and enable them to ship new products and features in a self-serve manner.

What you’ll be able to impact

  • You’ll be involved in engineering strategy work at the organisational level.

  • From a deep understanding of engineering/product/business needs, you’ll work with engineering leadership and your team to shape a technical vision and roadmap for the team.

  • You’ll lead significant technology initiatives from start to finish, across multiple layers of the architecture.

  • You’ll be architecting and developing applications and systems related to infrastructure and developer tooling to allow for iterative, autonomous development and future scaling.

  • You’ll proactively identify technical debt, systemic inefficiencies, or gaps in application performance, financial spending, and testing, and will lead efforts to remove these.

  • You’ll advocate for designing systems without single points of failure or scheduled maintenance windows, and ensure resilience patterns are implemented.

  • You’ll drive a DevOps way of working where engineers are responsible for services ownership at the application level, by enabling and creating golden paths.

  • You’ll inspire innovations to sustain our growth and generate creative ideas for emerging business needs.

  • You’ll mentor engineers on the team to help them grow technically and professionally.

What we are looking for

  • A proven track record in delivering highly reliable and scalable platform solutions.

  • Experience implementing (or overseeing the implementations of) software at scale using proven delivery methods (like agile) and technical design patterns (like blue-green deployments) that increase quality, agility and reliability.

  • Deep knowledge of cloud infrastructure, ideally with experience working with orchestrators (like Kubernetes) and Infrastructure As Code in an AWS-heavy environment.

  • A background in software engineering, ideally using Golang (or someone who is a quick learner)

  • Specialist-level knowledge rooted in experience in several of these areas: computing, networking, databases, security.

  • Someone who values open and honest communication and good teamwork to achieve a shared vision.

  • A passionate learner who isn't afraid of new tools and technologies and loves sharing their knowledge and experience.

  • Ability to find engagement in a team that’s spread across time zones (US and NL in this case) with a mostly remote and async way of working.

  • Nice to have: experience working in engineering organisations of 150+ engineers in a similar role.

WeTransfer is an equal opportunity employer and we pride ourselves on the diversity of our people. We welcome you, and everything that makes you—well, you. That includes your gender identity, sexual orientation, religion, ethnicity, age, or disability status.

A note on remote

Our work environment is hybrid-remote, meaning that we support our employees to work remotely and in the office. We encourage employees to decide for themselves and with their team whether or when to go to the office.

Background screening

While it is not necessarily a determining or disqualifying factor for any role, you may be required to complete a standard employment background screening..
