AMCS acquires P&L Software

UK waste management software provider P&L Software System, has been bought by AMCS.

In August, AMCS announced new investment funding of £33m, part of which was earmarked for acquisitions and strategic growth.

P&L managing director Peter Gardner said: “We’re very proud of the business and reputation we’ve built in the waste and recycling market.

“It’s exciting to now be part of AMCS, who bring significant breadth and depth of products and unrivalled investment in research and development and product innovation, which we believe will deliver great value to our customers.”

AMCS chief executive Jimmy Martin, right, said: “Whilst we will continue to support their existing systems, P&L’s customers will now be able to benefit from access to AMCS’ full suite of software and vehicle technology products including market leading ERP, mobile, weighing and business intelligence.

“The regulatory and commercial drivers in the UK have resulted in an accelerated uptake of software and on-vehicle technology as businesses seek to drive operational efficiencies and demand higher levels of management information to maximise revenue and profitability.”

P&L was established in 1987 and has the largest installed software base of UK waste and recycling operators. It is unique in being the only software house in the UK to specialise exclusively in waste management software.

MRW understands that P&L director Julie Emery-Priest is leaving the waste industry. She is a prominent personality within the industry and an RWM ambassador.

The recent investment in AMCS, led by Insight Venture Partners with participation from the Ireland Strategic Investment Fund, is expected to fund product innovation as well as other strategic acquisitions.
